Volunteer Spotlight- Jordan Mulford

Jordan recently joined our volunteer group as a writer for our publications. We welcome her to the team! Here’s what she told us about herself and why she joined the East Nantmeal Democratic Committee:

“My name is Jordan Mulford, and I am a life-long democrat, born and raised in East Nantmeal Township. I left the area for the first time to move to Pittsburgh for college, where I earned my B.A. in English/Writing from Duquesne University. After graduating, I returned home this past year to embark on a new academic journey to earn my M.F.A. in Fiction and my M.A. in Publishing from Rosemont College.

I have always been passionate about politics, spending many days and nights as a child attending protests, engaging in debates, and working to spread information and educate the community. As I have settled back into the area, that passion has resurfaced and I feel now more than ever, it is our job to work hard to educate our fellow community members, and support one another in these changing times.

I believe knowledge is one of the most powerful weapons in the fight against misinformation and extremism in modern politics, which is what drove me to volunteer my time to the East Nantmeal Democrats. As a young woman, I have seen first-hand the kind of extremist propaganda currently being promoted online, and it frightens me as we enter an era ruled by AI technology, that so many young people are being subjected to this daily.

I hope to make a difference by pointing out misinformation, and reminding people of the fact that we are all members of the same community, who should be working together to care for one another, not working against each other due to hate inspired by misleading and intentionally harmful rhetoric.
